"We don't need no diva": Snoop Dogg puts Steelers pride first, challenges Aaron Rodgers to make the right call in free agency

As the countdown to the 2025 NFL Draft enters its final hours, all eyes are on veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers — and his apparent indecision has drawn criticism from none other than legendary rapper and Pittsburgh Steelers superfan, Snoop Dogg.

Aaron Rodgers, still one of the top free-agent quarterbacks available, has left the Steelers organization and fanbase hanging. Despite Pittsburgh being viewed as his most viable landing spot, Rodgers has reportedly offered no further updates about his intentions, leaving both team officials and supporters frustrated. And Snoop Dogg is not mincing his words.

“Is he gonna show up to minicamp and all that other stuff? Because that’s what’s important,” Snoop said on ESPN’s First Take. “If you don’t get the rhythm of the team, then we don’t need you, homie. You gotta come in here and do what needs to be done to get the rhythm and the chemistry. That’s what’s missing... We don’t need no diva, so to speak. If he’s gonna sign, sign, but if not, kick rocks.”
The Steelers, who are entering the draft with Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson as their only quarterbacks, seem to be running out of patience — but they have yet to publicly impose a deadline on Rodgers. While head coach Mike Tomlin has reassured fans that the team won’t allow Rodgers’ indecision to dictate their draft board, the ambiguity still looms large.
“I think what you do in the draft oftentimes affects some talent acquisition that happens after,” Tomlin explained. “We’ll see how the acquisition goes this weekend.”
Pittsburgh currently holds the No. 21 overall pick, and with the draft pool looking unpredictable, prospects like Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders could become part of the Steelers’ long-term strategy. While Sanders is expected to be a top-10 pick by some projections, there's a slim chance he might fall to Pittsburgh — a scenario Snoop Dogg wouldn’t mind seeing unfold.
“If he’s around. I don’t think he’s going to be around at 21st,” Snoop admitted. “They’re doing a lot of talking but I don’t think somebody going to let him stay around that long. But if he is available, I’d take him. We got to have something back there to get the ball to these pieces that we put to the puzzle. Right now, I don’t like the way we look at quarterback.”
The reality is clear: unless Aaron Rodgers gives a definitive answer — and soon — the Steelers may have no choice but to look toward the future without him. With a franchise in search of stability under center and a fanbase demanding clarity, the ball is in Rodgers' court. Whether he chooses to play or pass could shape Pittsburgh’s season before it even begins.
