The Telugu dubbed Tamil films of
Vijay’s ‘Vaarasudu’ and
Ajith’s ‘Thegimpu released in Telugu states for Sankranthi fell flat here. Though both the films released ahead of Telugu biggies the below is what they have minted from the Telugu states.
Dil Raju, Thalapathi Vijay and Vamshi Paidipally’s maiden ambitious Tamil project though boasted to be doing great numbers in Tamil Nadu the same is not the case in Andhra. Both the above films have reportedly registered disasters at the Tollywood box office.
If poor reviews and negative spread of word affected Vijay’s ‘Vaarasudu’, poor promotions, fewer screens release and bad reviews affected Ajith's ‘Thegimpu/Thunivu’ at the Tollywood box office.
The Telugu big star Mass-Masala movies such as 'Waltair Veerayya’ and ‘Veera Simha Reddy’ ruled the roost this Sankranthi in the Telugu market.
If a huge budget 'Vaarasudu' is reported to have collected over Rs 9 crores from both the Telugu states. Ajith’s ‘Thegimpu’ couldn’t even collect half of the above numbers.
Though the numbers for Vijay’s film look great as he enjoys no big market here, his film is said to have been made with a huge budget and has collected the below numbers from various areas of Telugu states.
Nizam – 3.7 cr
Ceded – 1.45 cr
East Godavari – 60 L
West Godavari – 45 L
Guntur - 50 L
Krishna – 55 Lakhs
Nellore – 45 Lakhs
Whereas Thala Ajith and H Vinoth’s ‘Thunivu/Thegimpu’ had a simultaneous release in the Telugu states on January 11th a day before Sankranthi the film opened to disastrous reviews and could only mint Rs 2.17 crores for five days from Tollywood.
