During her prolonged illness, when she was admitted to a well-known hospital in Mumbai, Amitabh made it a priority to stay by her side and ensure she received the best care possible.
Now, nutritionist Khyati Rupani, who worked at the hospital during that period, has recalled an incident that reflected Amitabh’s compassionate nature.
Amitabh Bachchan remembers mother Teji Bachchan on her death anniversary: 'I spoke up .. leave it doc .. leave her .. she wishes to go ..'

In an interview with Ronak Kotecha on his YouTube channel, she spoke about how the veteran actor handled a situation when his mother’s feed was delayed.
She cited Amitabh Bachchan as an example of a kind-hearted person. “Mrs Teji Bachchan was in the hospital for 11 months, and she was on tube feeds,” Khyati shared, explaining that managing the nutritional needs of hundreds of patients often led to slight delays. “In 11 months, sometimes, her feeds would be delayed. It’s a process. We were feeding 400 beds. We were dealing with salt-restricted diets, and we were checking everything,” she said.

Khyati further mentioned that even a minor delay of 10 minutes would upset Teji Bachchan’s private nurses. When the issue was reported twice in one week, she personally went to check on the situation. “I went to meet her. Mr Bachchan was there. The nurse was scolding me, but Mr Bachchan said, ‘Beta, please try and get it on time.’ After that, I made it my only job. She would get fed first. He was very polite,” she shared.
Teji Bachchan passed away in 2007 at the age of 93.
