JEE Main 2025 Result Live: How NTA Calculates Percentile Scores

The National Testing Agency (NTA) uses a normalisation process to calculate percentile scores in JEE Main, ensuring fairness across multiple shifts with varying difficulty levels. The percentile reflects a candidate's relative performance, not the raw score.

Key points on how it works:
• The highest raw score in each session is assigned the 100th percentile.
• Percentiles are calculated separately for each subject: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
• The overall percentile is determined based on the candidate's relative position among all candidates in their session.
• For candidates appearing in both sessions, the best percentile is considered for the final ranking.
• NTA does not aggregate or average marks; instead, percentile scores are compared.

This method ensures fairness by factoring in varying difficulty levels, providing a level playing field for all candidates.
