Prayagraj: A 22-year-old man and his mother (50) were axed to death allegedly by their neighbours in Kasuhambi's Kaju village on Monday night, police said. Initial investigation suggests that the attackers suspected that the deceased Sarvajeet alias Kalloo had an illicit relationship with a woman of their house.
Taking a serious note of the incident, the Kaushambi district police chief has ordered suspension of a police station in-charge and two sub-inspectors for dereliction of duty. The three did not respond timely to the information about the murder.
According to police, one Satyajeet of Kaju village approached Charwa police on Monday night and said a group of miscreants, including brothers Shani and Shravan Saroj and others, entered his house alleging that his brother Sarvajeet had an affair with a woman of their house. They attacked Sarvajeet with an axe and sticks.
When his mother Sangeeta Devi tried to save her son, the miscreants attacked her too with an axe, they said. Upon being alerted, a team of Charwa police rushed to the spot and took both the injured to the hospital, where they died during treatment. Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem and arrested Shravan. Police have formed four teams to arrest Shani.
