With a chuckle, Sam shares, “Honestly, yes! When I first heard the title Samodu Vilayadu, I was like, ‘Wait… is this show about me?’ But then I realised, it’s about the vibe. It’s playful, spontaneous, and full of energy. That’s when I knew I had to be a part of it.”

Sam’s journey began in the corridors of college, guitar in hand, heart full of dreams. “I didn’t even have a band at first—I was just a guy trying to find his voice. I remember being scared during my first Ovations performance. I told my brother, ‘I don’t have a band; I’m just a DJ.’ And he casually said, ‘Start one next year.’ That moment changed everything.” He fondly recalls, “My first real performance was on my birthday, September 28. That night, everything aligned. I knew then that music was my calling.”

Ask him about dream collabs, and the answer’s instant. “Justin Bieber. No second thoughts. He’s been a huge inspiration for me. I’d love to make a pop fusion track with him.” He adds with a grin, “I still remember singing boy band numbers for a school assignment—that era still influences my sound today.”

“I’ve always scribbled down thoughts, especially about love,” Sam says. “I never knew if it was ‘professional’ writing, but it was real.” His stint in Super Singer opened new doors, including composition and performance. Sam adds, “As a kid, I used to pretend to cry in front of my parents, then run to the kitchen, cut onions, and act like I was cooking dramatically! Acting was always a secret passion. Now, I’m serious about it. I hope to work with legends like Rahman sir, Anirudh, Ilaiyaraaja sir, and D. Imman sir someday.”

Sam reflects on the people who saw potential in him. “I remember a show director once said, ‘You listen. You give space. That’s rare.’ That stuck with me.” He adds, “Earlier, I would avoid conflict. Now, I’ve learned to communicate, to grow emotionally. That growth made me who I am today.”

What’s it like hosting the show? “It’s been super fun!” Sam exclaims. “The vibe is so fresh—it’s like chilling with friends but on TV. I get to be myself, crack jokes, play games, and interact with amazing guests.”
