Q: Kulraj, you first tasted fame with the TV serial Kareena Kareena. A string of films followed, the most recent being Char Din Ki Chandni that came out last year. You've been away from the public eye since. I'm sure your fans would like to know what you've been up to?
A: Creatively speaking, I've actually started writing my book which I have been wanting to write because the subject is something that is close to my heart.
I've given it time and it is a very well thought-out idea. I wanted to take my time to write it too, and not do it in a hurry. I am also writing a couple of scripts. they're about subjects that have been on my mind for a couple of years now that I haven't been able to give my time to fleshing out these scripts.
Q: So they'll be good enough to turn into reality?A: I would love the scripts to end up on the silver screen someday. But about my book, I'd like to reach out to and share its message with people all over the country.
Q: How disciplined are you when it comes to work?A: Hopefully, if I stick to my commitment I've given to it, maybe a couple of months. I am quite a disciplined a person and that extends to this book also. I dedicate a chunk of my time to this pursuit. It's not easy to be disciplined with my writing because of the time frames of my acting work. Things don't always fall into schedule. There's so much to do in my primary profession itself, that taking out time for this book is a serious thought. Definitely a conscious step.

Q: We've celebrated 65 years of independence. You come from an Army background. What are your thoughts on the state of our country today?A: We've have 65 years of independence and I feel we are still in a state of confusion when it comes to the political scenario of the country. There have been certain changes which have been observed recently in our country, be it political upheavals or firing exchanges on the LoC plus the way internally states are fighting for separate statehood. Or be it the whole population control issue, the planning of which could have been done a long while back.
Q: What focuses your thoughts?A: I do have a spiritual side to myself. I think that is something which helps you keep grounded, stay focused and keep your sanity.
