Apoorva Mukhija recently opened up in a candid conversation on the Yuvaa podcast, shedding light on her emotional journey, the importance of
self-worth, and finding strength amidst controversy. Reflecting on her childhood and personal battles, Apoorva shared how her sense of responsibility towards her family—especially her mother—inspired her to take charge of her life.
“She did what my naani and daadi said. Then she did things we would say. I want to give her all the things she wished for. I want to give her a house. That’s where it stemmed form, where I had to speak up because no one else was fighting for me. I had to fight my own battles, nobody is going to save me, nobody is going to come and this is not the life that I am living. I didn’t know if it would work out or not, but I think I gave up a lot of time,” she said.
Speaking about her teenage years, she opened up about struggling with
mental health during school. “In 11th and 12th standard, I was extremely suicidal and self-harmed quite a lot. But I just knew there’s light at the end of the tunnel. You just have to fight for it. Everyone can’t lie to you. There are happy endings,” she added, highlighting the importance of resilience.
After the recent controversy surrounding India’s Got Latent, Apoorva revealed that she’s become more cautious, especially online. “I don’t think I am going to put my parents out there on social media anytime soon. Also, I won’t be posting live location videos or posts because the ac*d attack threats are very real,” she revealed. “We are living at a time where one can figure out a building by seeing the view.”
She also recalled a heart-to-heart conversation with actress
Rhea Chakraborty, saying, “I spoke to her for an hour during those tough times. The only choice I had was to stay silent. I lost so much business.”
