Despite earlier skepticism,
Apple is planning to release a third-generation Apple Watch Ultra this year. Likely to be launched in September. Apple Watch Ultra 3 will succeed the existing Watch Ultra 2. But if you are expecting some big improvements, then we may have bad news for you.
Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has rebutted previous claims that Apple may let go of the
Apple Watch Ultra update this year.
In a direct message shared with MacRumours, he said that the company is indeed planning to launch Apple Watch Ultra 3. However, there will be ‘almost no’ hardware upgrades as compared to Apple Watch Ultra 2.
No features or specifications of the upcoming watch are known yet. It is likely to be announced later this year in September at the 2024 iPhone series launch.
Apple may launch third-generation Watch SEIn its report, MacRumours also suggested the Cupertino-based company may bring a third-generation Apple Watch SE this year. Apple has a two-year upgrade cycle for Watch SE. The second generation Apple Watch SE was launched in 2022. It is likely that the affordable Apple Watch may get an upgrade this year.
However, the future of Apple Watch Series 9 remains unclear. A previous report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggested that Apple could be working on Apple Watch X with a thinner case and magnetic bands. But, its launch time frame was then stated to be 2024 or 2025. Therefore, it is uncertain whether the Watch X series will launch this year or next.
Gurman has previously said that the Apple Watch X series may come equipped with features like sleep apnea detection and blood pressure monitor that are likely to be incorporated in Apple Watch Ultra 3.
