Google is all set to host its annual developer conference Google I/O 2025 this month. However, ahead of its annual software event, the tech giant has launched a new version of its AI model Gemini. The company has now unenvied Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview which is an updated version of its flagship Gemini 2.5 Pro AI model. The company unveiled the new model, named Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview (I/O edition), earlier than initially planned, aiming to provide developers with early access to its enhanced features. As per Google, the Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview comes with improvements across coding domains.

Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis posted about the launch of the new AI model on X. Hassabis claims that it is the best coding model ever built. He further reveals that the model is ideal for creating interactive apps. Haasabis also shared a video explaining how Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview can be used for prototyping ideas.

According to Google, Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview boasts substantial improvements across various coding domains, including front-end and UI development, code transformation and editing, and the creation of sophisticated agentic workflows. These enhancements are expected to streamline the development process, enabling developers to build more efficient and innovative applications.
“For developers already using Gemini 2.5 Pro, this new version will not only improve coding performance but will also address key developer feedback including reducing errors in function calling and improving function calling trigger rates. The previous iteration (03-25) now points to the most recent version (05-06), so no action is required to use the improved model, and it continues to be available at the same ,” said Google in a blog post.
