Apple may release iOS 17.7 next week

According to a report by 9to5Mac, Apple has released iOS 18.0 RC (Release Candidate) to users on September 9 along with a new iOS 17.7 RC for developers and public beta testers. The update brings security patches and bug fixes to iOS 17.

It is likely that Apple may release iOS 17.7 simultaneously with iOS 18.0 next week. This way users will see both updates in the iPhone and iPad Settings app. They will be able to choose to stay on iOS 17 with the latest security patches or upgrade to iOS 18 with new features, the report states.

This is not the first time Apple will do this. In 2023, the iPhone maker continued to release security patches for iOS 16 for a brief period even after iOS 17 was released.
