Apple iOS 18 has a tool that helps configure genuine replacement parts
Apple's latest iOS 18 includes a Repair Assistant feature that lets users configure replacement parts after repairs. This tool ensures the proper functioning of devices using genuine Apple components.
Apple has added a new repair tool to iPhones that allow users to configure new parts in their iPhone after it's fixed. According to MacRumours report, iOS 18 brings a "Repair Assistant" feature to configure replacement parts after a repair.
The feature ensures that the iPhone is functional and working properly if it’s been repaired with an Apple part. Do note that the Apple iOS 18’s Repair Assistant feature works with genuine Apple components only.
Once a user has installed iOS18?and if they have a part that is able to be configured, it will show up under Parts and Service in the About section of the Settings app. However, users who have not had a repair will not see this section.
If a user has a replacement display, it can be configured with the Repair Assistant to make sure that True Tone, auto brightness options, and other features are accessible.
Models supported
Apple says that the iOS 18’s Repair Assistant will work with iPhone?12 and later models. The feature was first announced by Apple back in April. Apple then said that it would be introduced later this year in the fall.
The feature ensures that the iPhone is functional and working properly if it’s been repaired with an Apple part. Do note that the Apple iOS 18’s Repair Assistant feature works with genuine Apple components only.
How the Repair Assistant feature works
Once a user has installed iOS18?and if they have a part that is able to be configured, it will show up under Parts and Service in the About section of the Settings app. However, users who have not had a repair will not see this section.
The Repair Assistance feature can also be used to configure parts that were installed prior to iOS 18?#x27;s release. Even users who have had a third-party battery replacement that used an Apple battery, for example, can configure it as a genuine Apple component.
If a user has a replacement display, it can be configured with the Repair Assistant to make sure that True Tone, auto brightness options, and other features are accessible.
