In a thrilling main event for WWE Monday Night Raw, CM Punk defeated Sami Zayn to earn himself a spot in the Men's Elimination Chamber. Both men put on a show as they fought each other bitterly until a Go to Sleep gave Punk the win. Afterward, Punk and Zayn shared a moment of respect and shook hands in the ring. However, the celebration went awry when
Kevin Owens blindsided Zayn with a vicious Package Piledriver.
Kevin Owens Goes for the Kill: A New Page in an Old Book?
While CM Punk and
Sami Zayn were displaying some sort of sportsmanship, Kevin Owens attacked Sami Zayn from behind, giving him a real beating. The
WWE veteran did not stop there; he lifted Zayn and delivered a Package Piledriver onto the mat, leaving Zayn lifeless in the center of the ring.
The attack brought back one of the very few truly personal and emotional rivalries in
WWE history. Owens and Zayn have worked with and against each other for years, with this look seeming to be settled—until now. The beating sends a direct message that Owens is once again focused on Zayn, quite possibly setting up a chance for yet another classic between the two.
With his unpredictable personality, Owens did not give any reasons for his attack. However, with betrayals in the past, the question is now on everyone's lips: Is this the genesis of another Owens-Zayn war, or does Owens have greater ambitions coming into WrestleMania season?

The Road to Elimination Chamber Just Got Personal
CM Punk is going to the Elimination Chamber, and he is now close to a WrestleMania main event. But five other superstars would have to be put down first before he gets the reward. Meanwhile, neither Owens nor Zayn will be quiet about that fight. This is far from the last attack, and it is anybody's guess at this point whether Zayn will come after Owens next or whether Owens has a grander plan in store.
Brian Fritz of the Orlando Sentinel noted in an article that cryptic tweet following the match also caught the fans' eyes. This statement seems to directly concern the Elimination Chamber, indicating that to earn a possible title shot at WrestleMania, Punk will have to outlast five other superstars.
