Kunchacko Boban’s latest thriller ‘Officer on Duty’ has gained momentum at the box office, collecting an estimated Rs 9.05 crore net in India within its first four days. The film, directed by Jithu Asharef, has performed steadily over the weekend, marking a strong comeback for
Kunchacko Boban after a series of underwhelming releases.

Officer On Duty - Official Trailer
The film recorded a solid 60.47% Malayalam occupancy on February 23, with peak attendance during the evening shows (73.53%). Afternoon shows also saw strong footfall at 61.08%, while morning shows had an occupancy of 40.17%.
‘Officer on Duty’ has been praised for its gripping narrative and intense performances. ETimes gave the film a rating of 3 stars out of 5 and our review reads, “Performances add to the intensity. Kunchacko Boban delivers a gripping portrayal of a cop weighed down by trauma yet determined to crack the case. Vishakh Nair and his gang exude an eerie menace, embodying the ruthless predators that fuel the film’s nightmarish world. But here’s the unsettling truth—this is yet another crime thriller that feeds on the horrors inflicted upon women and children. Assault, abuse, and sexual violence drive the narrative, reinforcing the familiar trope: women as victims, men as aggressors, and the ever-righteous male cop seeking justice. The film does not hold back in its depiction of brutality, forcing the audience to confront the darkest corners of crime. But it also raises an uncomfortable question—why does mainstream cinema keep returning to the same formula? Are we so desensitized to violence against women that it has become a storytelling staple?”
With its weekend numbers indicating steady growth, ‘Officer on Duty’ is expected to continue its successful run in the coming days.
