Stone Cold Steve Austin has refused to say anything to John Cena after witnessing him turn heel at the 2025 WWE Elimination Chamber PLE.
Stone Cold Steve Austin was one of the biggest stars in WWE during the Attitude Era. At the height of his success, he shocked the world by turning heel at WrestleMania 17. He aligned with his longtime rival, Vince McMahon, at the event, which was called a game-changing moment in WWE history.
Despite knowing a thing or two about shocking the world with a heel turn, Steve Austin bluntly refused to offer any advice to another WWE flagship star who recently turned heel. He is none other than the 16-time WWE Champion, John Cena.

Why did Steve Austin refuse to offer any advice to John Cena after he turned heel?

In a recent interview with Zack Heydorn of Sports Illustrated, Steve Austin stated that his heel turn and the entire run were poorly executed. Despite being his choice to turn heel and also wanting to do something monumental as Vince McMahon always liked a big moment at WrestleMania, fans simply did not wanted him to turn heel.
Steve Austin stated, "No, I wouldn't [give John Cena advice] because I loved working heel when I was in WCW. I loved working heel when I first came into WWE because that was a true heel. When I turned heel at WrestleMania 17, the people didn't want me to turn heel. It was a forced turn. It was my idea. Vince always likes to do something big on a WrestleMania. He didn't do anything big. So I suggested that and he said okay, but it was a shit move. People weren't ready for it. People didn't want it.
Looking back at his lackluster run as a heel, Steve Austin believed that he was in no position to offer any advice to John Cena after he turned heel. "When I look back at it, sure, I got to push the creative envelope and do a lot of things that were cool or whatever, and push the envelope in a different direction and go out on a limb, but people didn't want me to turn heel, and so I should have never done that. So I don't think that I'm in a position where I need to offer John Cena any advice from Steve Austin," added Stone Cold.
