NAGPUR: City's upcoming tennis player Shrawani Dudulkar brought an end to Sejal Bhutada's brilliant run to become Under-14 girls singles champion in MSLTA All-India Ranking Championship Series Tennis Tournament on Thursday. Shrawani defeated Sejal 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the final.
In the boys doubles final, city pair of Kashit Nagrale and Achintya Verma got the better of Vivaan Karande and Dhiraj Reddy 6-4, 7-5 to finish on the top at Ram Nagar courts.
In the girls summit clash- played in the morning session-lanky Shrawani unravelled her best under pressure after losing the first game to Sejal, who had upstaged top-seed Madhura Shende in the semis on Wednesday.
Shrawani held her nerves with utter calmness and started using the full court while launching brisk returns. Her powerful and judicious cross-court strokes made the 10-year-old Sejal run consistently, which also made the little girl a bit tired.
Sejal, whose semis also lasted for three sets, felt the heat of long back-to-back encounters in as many days. She committed quite a few unforced errors in third match.
The strong-built Shrawani, who recently won the Under-17 divisional championship, executed the gameplan well and cultivated points without much fuss to seal the deal.
