NEW DELHI: Danny Webb is just 20 years of age but most of his Saturday morning at the 11th Auto Expo was spent signing autographs. No easy task for the Mahindra Racing's 125cc rider, who has trouble straightening most of his fingers which got smashed in numerous accidents in the past.

"Riding a motorcycle is always going to be dangerous - there is no secret in that. Every rider realizes it could be his last race when he gets on the bike. But we all love motorcycles and if there is any way to control how I would go, it would have to be while racing," Webb told TOI on Saturday.
"I have had a lot of major accidents in the past, most of my fingers don't work. I have even been knocked out but the best way to recover is to get back into training as soon as possible. Once you start training and get your head down, you forget about everything else," he added.
Webb, who has been riding since the age of four, joined the Mahindra Racing team at the beginning of last year and managed to put the team on pole in Valencia. He ended the season with 24 points.
"There are not too many sponsors backing riders in the United Kingdom. I have managed to survive in the sport with the support of Mahindra. We managed to finish ahead of KTM, who have been former champions, which was a great result for us.
"It'll be important to build on that and we'll be able to judge our performance when we get the bike on track for the first test run," Webb, who took part in the Junior Motorcross Championships at the age of just six, said.
Sarath Kumar, the 125cc national champion from Chennai, is also looking forward to his stint in Italy. "I got the opportunity to race in the world championship and realized that there was a vast gap in the levels. Now my stint in the Italian Championships will hopefully prepare me well. I believe Mahindra will be very competitive in the Italian races and I hope to compete for the podium regularly," Sarath said.
