Report: Saints bring back former 49ers cornerback on three year, $9M deal

The New Orleans Saints are making strategic moves to strengthen their defense, and their latest signing brings back a familiar name to the Big Easy. With Paulson Adebo heading to the New York Giants, the Saints needed reinforcements in their secondary. Instead of taking a gamble on an unproven player, they opted for a reliable veteran with experience in their system.


The Saints have officially reached an agreement with former San Francisco 49ers cornerback Isaac Yiadom on a three-year, $9 million contract, including $4.86 million in guaranteed money. The deal, which could increase to $10.5 million with incentives, marks Yiadom’s return to a team he previously played for in 2022 and 2023.
This signing is a smart depth move for the Saints’ defensive backfield. Yiadom, 29, has proven his versatility throughout his seven-year NFL career, playing for six different teams. In the 2024 season, he appeared in all 17 games for the 49ers, stepping up as a starter when injuries struck and finishing the year with 46 tackles, two forced fumbles, and an interception.
The Saints are already set with their top cornerbacks, rookie Kool-Aid McKinstry and standout Alontae Taylor but Yiadom adds much-needed veteran presence and rotational flexibility. During his previous tenure in New Orleans, he played in 23 games, recording 39 tackles, 14 passes defended, and an interception. While not a household name, Yiadom is a dependable asset who can deliver solid performances when called upon.

The New Orleans Saints have long been known for navigating the NFL salary cap with precision, and this signing aligns perfectly with that strategy.
