Microsoft-owned Xbox has announced an AI gaming assistant designed to personalise and streamline the gaming experience. According to details revealed on today's Official Xbox Podcast, the “Copilot for Gaming” will soon be available in preview form to Xbox Insiders on mobile devices.
Fatima Kardar, Xbox corporate vice president of Gaming AI, introduced the new technology alongside vice president of Next Generation Jason Ronald. Kardar described Copilot as a “personalised gaming companion” that helps players navigate games more efficiently, offers skill improvement coaching, and enhances connection with gaming communities.
What is Copilot for Gaming AI assistant
As per Xbox, the AI assistant is built on three core principles: capability, adaptability and personalisation. It aims to address time management issues by reducing time spent on administrative tasks like searching, downloading and updating games.
In the podcast, one notable feature demonstrated was in-game assistance, where Copilot can provide contextual advice using natural language to help players overcome specific challenges.
“It's not just about AI showing up to help you, it's about AI showing up at the right moment. We really have to think about the experience we've built, it cannot be intrusive,” Kardar said.
Xbox is taking a gradual approach to the rollout, starting with mobile access for Xbox Insiders before expanding to other devices. The company is actively seeking player feedback to refine the technology's implementation.
