Shohei Ohtani is one of the most successful and talented players in the history of baseball. The Dodgers’ star player has achieved various awards and accolades throughout his career, and even crossed milestones that take years for a player to achieve. However, Ohtani just embarked on a new journey: the journey of becoming a father.

Shohei Ohtani becomes a girl dad

Shohei Ohtani and wife Mamiko welcomed their first child, a girl, and fans cannot keep calm! It is well-known that Ohtani is an extremely private person and keeps his personal life away from the prying eyes of the media. He has always made sure that his wife, Mamiko, does not come under media scrutiny, and has taken several measures to ensure the same. For Ohtani to announce the birth of his daughter is nothing sort of a celebration for the Dodgers fans.

On April 20, 2025, Ohtani took to Instagram and announced that he and Mamiko are now parents to their baby girl. Being a gentleman, Ohtani went on to thank his wife for giving birth to their healthy daughter. He also thanked his newborn daughter for making them “very nervous, yet super anxious parents.”
Ohtani also thanked the entire Dodgers family, including players, staff, and fans, for their unbreakable support and encouragement throughout the journey. Finally, he expressed his gratitude to the medical staff who guided the couple through all the ups and downs of pregnancy.

When will Shohei Ohtani return to the field?

Ohtani already took paternity leave to be with his wife during the delivery and is not expected to be back until at least later next week. Since MLB has a rule of missing out on a maximum of three games on paternity leave, Ohtani might return to the field after the Dodgers Vs Cubs game, which is to be held on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers took to X and congratulated Ohtani on Mamiko on becoming parents. They tweeted, "Baby Ohtani has arrived. Congratulations Shohei and Mamiko on the birth of your daughter!"
To fill up Ohtani’s gap, the Dodgers have called outfielder Eddie Rosario, who is expected to manage the responsibilities well. It shows how well-versed the team is, and how Dodgers support their players in every aspect. Meanwhile, the Dodgers fans are congratulating Ohtani on becoming a girl dad and wishing him good luck on this new journey.
