It was time for Alec Bohm to rise to the occasion and hit his first homer of the season. The Philadelphia Phillies vs Tampa Bay Rays match proved to be fruitful for the hitter. But, why did it take so much time for Bohm to make his first homer of the season? Was he suffering from an injury? We have the information here.
Alec Bohm hitting his first homer of 2025
The match between Philadelphia Phillies and the Tampa Bay Rays took place on Tuesday. When Bohm entered the field, there were no expectations from fans as the hitter had a slow start this season, with a batting average hardly being above .200 and low RBIs.
However, Bohm shut every critic in the field with his season-first home run. He hit a 2-run homer, which helped the Phillies get a lead over the Tampa Bay Rays.
However, the question arises, why did it take Bohm such a long time to make a homer? Well, it seems that Bohm had a slow start, some of which can be blamed for his bruised foot. Due to this, manager Rob Thomson decided to put Bohm further down in the lineup. In mid-April, Alec was put in seventh for the first time after July 2023.
However, the intention behind putting the hitter down the lineup was to give him some rest, as confirmed by Thomson,
“I’m just trying to take a little heat off Bohmer.”Well, it seems putting him on rest did work, because Alec Bohm is just getting started, and this homer is the proof of that.
When asked about the slow start, Alec had a rather optimistic reply for that,
“I guess the game's trying to teach me a lesson maybe.”If the lesson meant slowing things down, and getting proper rest to unlock your potential, then we think Bohm has cracked it.
Fan reactions to Alec Bohm’s homer
While previously there were comments on replacing Bohm in the game, fans are now appreciating him on the home run.
One fan went on to say,
“Bohm breaks the ice in style, first bomb of the year!”Another Phillies fan commented,
"Alec is just getting started.. Bohm!"While fans are regaining trust in Alec, there's one person who has always believed in his potential, the Phillies manager, Rob Thomson. When the whole baseball world thought that it was the end of Bohm, Thomson knew that he would bounce back, and Alec did that beautifully.
