Khamzat Chimaev gearing up to challenge Dricus du Plessis for the middleweight title, dates yet to be announced
Khamzat Chimaev, known for his grappling style, is preparing hard to dethrone Dricus Du Plessis from the throne of the middleweight championship. Dricus captured the title after defeating Sean Strickland at UFC 297 and then successfully defended the belt against Israel Adesanya at UFC 305 and Sean Strickland in the rematch at UFC 312. Ever since his debut within the UFC, Dricus has not lost a single bout, bringing his UFC record to 9-0.
Chimaev has also made his mark within the division by bringing his UFC record to 8-0. The fighter is all prepared to put up a strong title challenge for Dricus. In a recent interview, sports journalist Adam Zubarayaev directed a statement towards Chimaev, “Khamzat, Du Plessis's coach said their camp is focused on preparing for a ground war...". Before even the completion of the statement, Chimaev had his answer ready and wasted no time in making his statement, “Let them prep for war. I'm prepping for murder.”
While the Russian fighter’s comment stirred a sense of excitement across the fan community making them impatient for the fight to happen, Dricus, on the other hand, rather took the comment on a lighter note and replied to it via a comment on one of the Instagram posts. Dricus wrote, “Wow that's the first time I've heard that one. Shakespeare in the house”
