Speculation surrounding NBA player Ja Morant appearing as a character in Grand Theft Auto 6 has swept social media in the last few days. There is no official word, however, from Rockstar Games to verify these claims. Although fan-made images have been circulating online, the truth behind these claims is quite different as they are based on speculation and digital alterations rather than reality.

Rockstar remains silent while fan-made edits spark speculation

The rumors started spreading after a number of images were posted online that depicted a character looking like Ja Morant in GTA 6-like environments. The images spread like wildfire with fans speculating that the Memphis Grizzlies' guard might be included in the game as a playable character.

Nevertheless, these pictures have been confirmed to be edited materials, not actual Rockstar publications. The character model used in these images supposedly employs Franklin Clinton's body model from GTA V with some tweaks to resemble Morant. These edits are created by fans and have nothing to do with Rockstar Games or its new release.
To date, Rockstar has not referenced Ja Morant in any of its public statements or marketing materials for GTA 6. The company has been mum about much of the game, but the established protagonists are a female protagonist called Lucia and a male ally called Jason. Their tale is Bonnie and Clyde-inspired — a far cry from any NBA cameo or character appearance.

Although celebrity appearances in video games are not uncommon, there is no reliable source or Rockstar announcement indicating Ja Morant's participation.
The hype surrounding Ja Morant in GTA 6 is fun, but it is completely founded on unofficial fan-made content.
