'No Trespassing' by Brinda S. Narayan is an interesting thriller sure to keep you on the edge.
The book follows a family who has moved to a high-end society in Mumbai. It's told from the point of Vedika, a mother. She comes from humble origins and though she's lived a while in the US, we see her slightly intimidated by the affluent surroundings she'll be raising her children in, though she is eager to be a part of it.
She and her son make friends but after a while, she realises there is something a little off with her son. She plans to take him to get checked up but before that can happen he dies in an accident while playing with other children. She soon understands that his death might not be an accident and tries to investigate his death, uncovering secrets that go back years.
The writing is excellent with vivid descriptions of places, people and emotions. The pacing of the book is steady with an almost dreamy flow which draws you in. The best part of the book is the setting, for it's a gated community with ample guards and cameras; surrounded by friendly neighbours and seemingly safe. However, the book highlights the dark side to such a setting. It's an edgy thriller which will stay with you after you've finished it.
