Operation Sindoor: How India carried out precision strikes on Pakistan, PoK

In a retaliatory move for the Pahalgam terror attack, India launched "Operation Sindoor," executing precision strikes on nine terrorist bases across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

India in the early hours of Wednesday carried out "Operation Sindoor" - a series of precision strikes successfully destroying 9 terrorist bases inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The tri-services operation - conducted jointly by the Army, Navy and the Air Force - was carried out from the Indian soil.

The defence ministry said Operation Sindoor was “focused, measured and non-escalatory” and avoided any Pakistani military facilities.
As per a statement issued by the defence ministry at 1:44 am the operation was described as "focused, measured, and non-escalatory in nature."Also read: After precision strikes in Pakistan and PoK, Indian Army says 'justice is served'The targets included the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) headquarters in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba's (LeT) base in Muridke, news agency PTI reported. The strikes avenged the brutal April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians.

Here's how the strikes were carried out:

  • The exact coordinates of the terrorist targets were provided by intelligence agencies.
  • Indian forces had selected the location for strikes with the intent of targeting top Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar leadership for their role in sponsoring terrorist activities in India.
  • The three services - the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force - jointly carried out the operation and mobilisation of assets and troops.

The operation focused on the headquarters of banned terror groups Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Muridke. Bahawalpur has long served as JeM’s base since its founder, UN-designated terrorist Masood Azhar, was released in 1999.
