Saakshyam unveiled a side of me that I didn’t know existed: Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas
As his fourth and most ambitious film yet, Saakshyam, gears up for release today, Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas is super excited. After potboilers like Alludu Seenu, Speedunnodu and Jaya Janaki Nayaka, the actor has gotten out of his comfort zone to experiment with this supernatural thriller directed by Sriwass. “The story has so many different elements and layers to it, I had to stretch myself as an actor to carry it off and in the process discovered a side of me I didn’t know existed.

I can’t wait to see how the audience will react to the film,” exudes the actor.
Ee bhumi meedha jarige pratidaniki saakshyam ee drushtieekadu, aa srushti kuda,” goes a line in the trailer that sums up what the film is all about. Loose translation: Any occurrence on this planet isn’t witnessed by just those who see it happen, this creation bears testimony to everything. Sreenivas, however, is quick to clarify that the film isn’t a metaphysical fantasy, as it is being made out to be.
“There’s been a lot of talk about Saakshyam being a horror thriller. That’s not true. There are no supernatural elements as such — let’s just say, the story incorporates five elements of nature that we all experience in our everyday life, into its screenplay,” he says, adding,
“The film has been shot in some stunning locations of Dubai, parts of Rajahmundary and on the ghats of Varanasi. It will be a visual treat.”
The USP of Saakshyam will be its action sequences. And going by the video of Sreenivas flyboarding in the open sea, that went viral on social media recently, looks like one can expect some gravity defying feats from the actor. “Trust me, it isn’t easy to learn flyboarding. You are
literally flying 20 feet high in the air, trying to balance yourself on the water. It hurts very bad when you fall, but it was so much fun. I like to do all he stunts myself, because it makes them more believable. I also did sandboarding, jet skiing and even did stunts on a BMT cycle for my opening sequence,” he says, adding, “There are a lot of high-octane action sequences in the film. The best part is that all the action episodes have been shot very stylishly without any blood and gore.”
The actor signs off saying, “All the stunts notwithstanding, Saakshyam is essentially a family drama, that everybody can relate to.”
Produced by Abhishek Nama under Abhishek Pictures, Saakshyam releases today.
