Addressing the incident and his son’s condition, Pawan Kalyan said, “Our youngest son, Mark Shankar, was injured in a school fire in Singapore and is being treated in hospital. On April 8, a fire broke out at a shophouse along River Valley Road in Singapore, affecting several children and adults. Among those injured was Pawan’s son Mark, who suffered burns on his hands and legs, along with breathing difficulties due to smoke inhalation. Emergency responders, including the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), promptly arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire and provide medical assistance.
The actor-politician also mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally reached out to him after learning of the incident. “It gave courage,” Pawan noted, appreciating the Prime Minister’s gesture. He added that the Indian High Commissioner had been instructed to extend all necessary support in Singapore.
In his message, Pawan extended his gratitude to everyone who had reached out with prayers and good wishes—from fellow actors and political leaders to devotees who performed special poojas at temples across the country. “Mark Shankar is gradually recovering due to these good-hearted wishes and blessings. I sincerely thank everyone,” he expressed.

At the time of the unfortunate incident, Pawan was touring the Alluri Sitarama Raju district as part of his official duties, engaging with local communities. He continued his commitments there before travelling to Singapore. However, in light of the emergency, he cancelled his remaining engagements in Visakhapatnam.
Pawan Kalyan has four children. He shares Mark Shankar and Polena Anjana Pawanova with his wife, Anna Lezhneva, while his elder children, Akira Nandan and Aadhya, are from his previous marriage to actor Renu Desai.
