The 66th National Film awards were announced on Friday afternoon by jury head Rahul Rawail in New Delhi. While most categories are expectedly dominated by Bollywood, Telugu cinema has stamped its authority at the prestigious stage this time around. While Keerthy Suresh bagged the Best Actress award for her stellar performance as the legendary Savitri in Mahanati, Awe pulled out a surprise by winning two awards; Best VFX and Best Make-up.

Directed by debutante Prashanth Varma, the psychological anthology film is jointly bankrolled by Prashanti Tipirneni and Natural Star Nani who also gave his voice for a goldfish. Featuring an ensemble cast like Kajal Aggarwal, Nithya Menen and Regina Cassandra, Awe released to glowing reviews from critics and viewers with special accolades to the technical crew.
Expressing jubilation over the mighty performance of his maiden production, Nani took to social media and wrote “Wall poster cinema team is very proud today. 2 national awards for our debut production. what more can we ask. Thank u to all our cast and crew. Thank u jury and congratulations to all the award winners.”
