Director Vassishta's father reveals AI was used in Chiranjeevi starrer 'Vishwambhara' teaser due to time crunch
Chiranjeevi will be next seen in the upcoming socio-fantasy film, 'Vishwambhara' directed by Malladi Vassishta known for 'Bimbisara'. The extensive work on the film has made expectations high from the fans regarding its visual effects. However, the film’s teaser, released in October 2024, faced heavy criticism for its subpar visuals, making a dent in the film's initial excitement. Now, filmmaker Malladi Satyanarayana Reddy has revealed that the teaser’s visuals were not CGI but AI-generated due to time constraints.
Needed to use AI over CGI
During an interview with TeluguOne, Vassishta’s father Satyanarayana Reddy explained that the production team underestimated the time required for shooting and completing CGI. When the VFX team promised a three-month timeline, the filmmakers extended it to six months for better quality. However, even this extended period proved insufficient. Facing mounting pressure to release the teaser on time, they resorted to AI technology to render scenes at the last minute.
Initially slated for a Sankranthi 2025 release, 'Vishwambhara' was postponed after Ram Charan's 'Game Changer' took over the release window.

Teaser's VFX won’t appear in the film
Satyanarayana also mentioned that these AI-generated visuals would not appear in the final film. The backlash from fans and critics prompted the team to reassess their approach, ensuring that proper CGI work would be completed before the movie's release.
He said, "The plan was to release the film for Sankranthi, and they were running out of time. So, they used AI at the last minute to render scenes, but it’s not proper CGI that was done as expected. It won't be in the movie."

Vishwambhara also included Trisha Krishnan, Kunal Kapoor, Ashika Ranganath, Surbhi Puranik, and Isha Chawla in key roles. MM Keeravaani is composing the music of the film.
There are speculations that 'Vishwambhara' might now be released on August 22, 2025, coinciding with Chiranjeevi's birthday.
