A petition was filed at the
Madras High Court seeking a ban on the release of the Tamil film 'Maaveran'. Reportedly, a case was filed by a regional and local political party alleging that the movie used their party flag in the film illegally. Responding to the complaint, the court issued an order on July 12 stating that they cannot prohibit the release of the film based on the complaint and suggesting that the movie makers can add a 40-second disclaimer in the scene sequence.
According to reports, the court has passed the order asking the movie maker to edit the scene to blur the party flag while it makes its digital premiere on OTT or during a satellite broadcast.
Directed by Ashwin Madonne of 'Mandela' fame, the movie stars
Sivakarthikeyan and
Aditi Shankar in the lead roles.
Mysskin plays the antagonist in the movie, and the film's music and background are composed by
Bharath Shankar. The film is set to release in theatres on July 14.
