SIIMA 2023: Lokesh Kanagraj wins the Best Director & 'Ponniyin Selvan' wins the Best Film

The SIIMA awards are almost at an end. This year, the 11th edition of the event is being held in Dubai and many notable actors, actresses, other technicians have won awards for the films they were part of. 'Ponniyin Selvan' in total has bagged four awards at SIIMA till now. The movie won the award for Best Film, Best Cinematographer - Ravi Varman, Best Lyricist - Ilango Krishnan and Best Art Director - Thotta Tharani.'Ponniyin Selvan' has managed to be on top of the list and director Mani Ratnam also received the Extraordinary Achievement Award.
'Ponniyin Selvan' is a historic epic drama adapted from the novel written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. Directed by Mani Ratnam, the film was made into two parts and put together it has earned more than Rs 800 crore at the box office. The film is a multistarrer and it was critically acclaimed. While Ponniyin Selvan managed to grab most of the awards it was nominated for, however, the Best Director Award was won by Lokesh Kanagaraj for 'Vikram'. Lokesh Kanagraj made the film in his own cinematic universe and it starred Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil in lead roles and the music for the movie was composed by Anirudh Ravichander, who also won the Best Music Director at SIIMA 2023.
