Akshay wrote "That’s another wonderful news, Best Supporting Actor - Swanand Kirkire for our Marathi film #Chumbak! Big congratulations, truly well-deserved! #NationalFilmAwards".

Reacting to the success of the film at the National Film Awards 2018, Swanand Kirkire took to his Twitter handle and wrote "Unreachable in middle of nowhere in Madhya Pradesh with no network and hearing national award news is just too overwhelming and amazing. Thank you @sandeep_modi @jollynarenkumar & @akshaykumar Tty soon"

The movie revolves around the friendship of a restaurant worker boy – Baalu – and a simple mentally-ill middle-aged village man – Prasanna (Swanand Kirkire). They are thrown together due to circumstances. Swanand bagged the Best Actor in a supporting role for ‘Chumbak’ in the 56th Maharashtra State Film Awards earlier this year.
Akshay Kumar had taken interest in the film and went on to present it eventually. ‘Chumbak’ is directed by Sandeep Modi and produced by Aruna Bhatia, Naren Kumar and Cape of Good Films.
