Satya fame JD Chakravarthy was last seen in the 1992 film
Ennodishtam Koodamo in Malayalam. The actor, who is known to be very choosy in selecting films, will be back in Malayalam, this time as
Nayanthara’s love interest in Siddique’s Bhaskar the Rascal.
The reason he decided to take up the film, says Chakravarthy, is that he had always been excited by the way Siddique plays with the screenplay.
“The way he had sketched my character also floored me. I got excited and here I am,” he says from the set of the film. “I’m not allowed to reveal much about my character. All I can say is that I am the antagonist.”
It is not the first time that the actor is sharing screen space with Nayanthara; they have acted together in a Telugu film earlier. “When I heard that she is in the movie, I was relieved. I was happy that there will be someone I know here. She has always been a good friend, and I loved working with her then, as well as now.”
And how was his experience working in a Malayalam film again? “To be honest, I was uncomfortable at first, but everyone here made me so comfortable I am enjoying it. Siddique is such a gentle person and you learn a lot of life lessons from him,” says the Vaastu Shasthra actor, who is busy in Tamil, Kannada and Telugu industries.
Contrary to reports, Chakravarthy is not part of Lijo Jose’s
Double Barrel. However, he is now very much open to doing more films in Malayalam. “As long as the film as a whole, and not just my role, excites me, language is never a barrier,” he signs off.
