Abhirami Suresh, sister of playback singer Amrita Suresh and the sister-in-law of actor and director Bala, is also set to enter tinsel town. Armed with a diploma in acting under the supervision of director Ranjith, Abhirami started her career on television by anchoring shows and acting in a children’s serial, which eventually opened the doors for her entry into the film industry.
And she has signed not one but two films — Hashim Marikkar’s
Kelvi and S S Kumaran’s
Kerala Nattilam Pengaludane — both bilinguals.
Kelvi, a suspense thriller, will see her essaying the role of a college student. “Since it is a thriller, I am not allowed to speak more about my character. I play a college student is all I can say now,” she says. The Malayalam-Tamil bilingual movie, which has Shwetha Menon in the lead, revolves around the lives of a scriptwriter, a film director and a former actress.
Abhirami has also completed the shoot of her first Tamil movie,
Kerala Nattilam Pengaludane, directed by music composer S S Kumaran. “The film gives prominence to the culture and traditions of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. I play a Malayali girl, who aspires to be a beauty queen,” says Abhirami, who is paired opposite Abi Sharavan (of Kutti Puli fame). She will share screen space with two other actresses, Gayathri and Dikshitha, in the bilingual movie.
Meanwhile, the young actress is also busy with her first music album. “I have composed several bajans before. I will be producing a romantic music album next. I have started the ground work of the project and hope to come out with the album soon,” she signs off.
