Kannada filmmaker AT Raghu who was 76 passed away on Thursday night after a prolonged battle with illness. The actor who was undergoing dialysis is survived by his wife and daughter. His mortal remains were kept for public viewing at his residence in Matadhahalli.
Members of the sandalwood fraternity have expressed grief over the demise of Raghu who has left an indelible mark with his work. Apart from Kannada, he has also directed a Hindi and Malayalam film. The director had a special bond with Ambareesh as he had collaborated with the Rebel Star for 27 films and Mandyada Gandu which deeply resonated with audiences and is remembered by cinema enthusiasts even today had a stupendous success at the box office.
Raghu’s directorial style is known for its gripping narratives, intense action sequences, and strong emotional content, which resonated with audiences. To exhibit Kodava’s rich culture to the outside world and provide a platform for Kodava artists, Raghu also directed and produced Kodava serials like Ainmane, Pombolcha, Thamane, Gejje Thand, Jamma Bhoomi, and Nanga Kodava.
