Content creator Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as The Rebel Kid, has become embroiled in controversy following her remarks on Samay Raina's show, India’s Got Latent. The programme faced severe criticism after Ranveer Allahbadia made obscene statements about parents and sex, sparking outrage. Both Maharashtra Cyber and Mumbai Police are investigating the matter. Meanwhile, RJ Mahvash, who is known for her alleged association with cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal amid his divorce from Dhanashree Verma, has spoken in Apoorva’s defence.
During an interview with Yuvaa, Mahvash addressed the backlash against Apoorva. The host said, “When girls are called out for taking a stand for themselves, right, we all know what recently happened. There was a girl who was just responding, taking a stand for herself. Why is it so difficult to understand, you know, and why did she become the bad girl? Because she was just taking a stand for herself.”
Mahvash calls out double standards in controversy
Responding to it, Mahvash stated, "In 2018, a rape case was reported every 15 minutes. In 2022, 31,000 rape cases were reported, and aur aap Samay Raina ki gaali pe atke hue hai. If people had spoken up this much about rape cases, the numbers would have reduced. What are you doing and stuck at? And that guy started from the front by saying, ‘Don't you have a sensation in your vagina?’ He's not called out anywhere. Nothing happened to him. And someone answered back. And there were no abuses in the last episode? Why is it an issue now? Because a girl said it. Now it's a big issue. How did a girl say it? How did she hurl abuses? Ye to bohot gandi baat ho gayi culture ke liye.”
The host then remarked, "Abusing is bad. Don’t attach gender to this, this is my point." Mahvash further commented, "If your language is bad, don’t attach gender to it. If a girl is abusing, it’s worse. If a guy is abusing, it’s less bad. It’s bad. That should be the basic ground for everyone."

Apoorva Mukhija wipes Instagram clean amid backlash
Meanwhile, Apoorva has wiped her Instagram clean months after the India’s Got Latent controversy. On 1 April, she deleted all her posts, fuelling speculation among fans about whether the move was linked to the controversy or simply an April Fool’s prank.
A screenshot of her Instagram profile, now showing zero posts, has gone viral. With a fan following of three million, the reason behind her decision remains unclear. Apoorva Mukhija served as one of the judges on comedian Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent, which has since been removed from YouTube. The show, featuring judges such as Ranveer Allahbadia, Jaspreet Singh, and Ashish Chanchlani, was criticised for vulgar and offensive remarks. Multiple FIRs were filed against the judges, who later appeared before Maharashtra Cyber Cell to record their statements.
