Samay Raina’s IGL controversy: Apoorva Mukhija makes a comeback with a powerful message after facing online trolls; reveals getting ‘ra*e and death threats’

Social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija, widely known as The Rebel Kid, has made a powerful and emotional return to Instagram after a turbulent hiatus triggered by intense backlash from her appearance on the controversial YouTube show India’s Got Latent. With over three million followers, Apoorva had previously wiped her profile clean — deleting all posts and unfollowing everyone — amid the storm of criticism and hate she received.
Her comeback wasn’t subtle — it was a statement. In a bold post that began with a trigger warning, Apoorva shared a series of harrowing screenshots revealing the scale of abuse hurled at her online. The comments included rape threats, death threats, and mentions of acid attacks. Her caption read, “And that’s not even 1%,” underlining just how widespread the hate was.
The post immediately drew waves of support from her followers and well-wishers, who rallied behind her courage. One comment read, “Wow finally. We don’t deserve the story, but you deserve the love.” Another user wrote, “My queen, you will be alright trust me” A fan powerfully added, “Imagine trolling a woman for taking a stand for herself. They wanted you quiet. It’s time you give them a big Roar!”
The backlash Apoorva faced stemmed from her appearance on India’s Got Latent, a show hosted by comedian Samay Raina.
The episode, which aired in February, stirred controversy after fellow guest Ranveer Allahbadia made crude remarks involving parents and sex, sparking outrage across social media and leading to several formal complaints in Mumbai.
Apoorva herself was accused of making an objectionable comment during the show, and she was later summoned by the Mumbai Police in relation to the case. The National Commission for Women also took serious note of the offensive content and issued notices to all involved parties, including Apoorva.
While the controversy may have rattled her, Apoorva’s return marks a defiant stand — not just against cyberbullying, but against a culture that often silences women for speaking their minds. Her followers, and now many more, are listening.
