Madhuri Dixit’s husband Dr Shriram Nene reveals he lost 18 kg after quitting alcohol: ‘People were screaming at me’

Dr Shriram Nene, renowned cardiac surgeon and husband of actress Madhuri Dixit, recently opened up about a personal health revelation that helped him lose weight and maintain a balanced lifestyle.
During a recent panel discussion, Dr Nene shared that the results of his latest annual health check-up served as a wake-up call. Concerned by what he described as a troubling report, he made the decision to eliminate alcohol from his diet and adopt a fully vegan lifestyle.

In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Dr Nene candidly spoke about the turning point. “People were screaming at me because all my numbers were off. They were like, ‘Doc, what are you doing? You are the healthcare one in the family,’” he recounted. “About 9–10 months ago, I switched it up — I went vegan and stopped drinking. We went through all kinds of transformation, testing it, and I was my own guinea pig,” he said.

Dr Nene also reflected on how similar lifestyle changes had helped his father, who had been living with diabetes for over five decades. “I said, ‘Why can’t I try that on myself?’ So I did. Along the way, we dropped 18 kgs. We went down to 16 percent body fat,” he added.
Madhuri and Shriram recently made headlines for their outing in a sleek red luxury car worth Rs 6 crores. She was seen looking stylish in a black bodycon dress, while Shriram complemented her outfit in a black formal suit set. Madhuri Dixit married Shriram in 1999. They have two sons, Arin and Ryan. The couple relocated to the US after their marriage and later returned to India in 2011.
