Actor Govinda, who was hospitalized following an accidental gunshot wound to his leg, is recovering well and will be discharged in two days, according to his wife, Sunita Ahuja. The incident occurred while the actor was handling his licenced revolver at home. Mumbai police and crime branch are investigating the matter although no FIR has been filed.

Sunita Ahuja has shared an important health update about her actor husband Govinda.
Post her visit to the hospital, where the actor is receiving treatment for the bullet injury he sustained to his leg, she informed reporters that Govinda is "better" and will be discharged in two days. In a statement reported by ANI, she said, "Govinda is better. We will admit him to the normal ward today.

He is much better than yesterday. He will be discharged the day after tomorrow. With everyone's blessings, he has recovered...He has a great fan following, so people are praying for him...I would like to tell the fans to not panic, he is fine."

Meanwhile, the Mumbai crime branch personnel, met the actor Govinda and have made enquires about the incident. While the local police have been conducting an investigation, the Mumbai crime branch has also initiated a parallel enquiry into the incident which took place on Tuesday morning at the actor's Mumbai residence. A crime branch team led by senior police inspector Daya Nayak visited the hospital and spoke to the actor about the incident, an official said.

No one has lodged any complaint in this matter so far, police said and also confirmed that the actor was alone when the incident took place at his residence in the early hours of the morning.

According to reports, Govinda's licenced revolver accidentally discharged while he was putting it back in the cupboard before leaving for Kolkata. Govinda's manager, Shashi Sinha, told reporters, "Govinda was getting ready to leave for Kolkata and was putting his licenced revolver back in the cupboard when it slipped from his hand, and the gun went off, hitting him in the leg. The doctor has removed the bullet, and his condition is stable. He is still in the hospital."
Soon after learning about the incident, director David Dhawan and veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha came to the hospital to inquire about Govinda's health.
