Amritraj and his plans
He has spent 27 years in Hollywood, produced more than 100 movies and wants to do much more.
You will never find ex tennis player and Hollywood producer Ashok Amritraj without his smile. When I had come to this industry, the scenario was completely different. It was dominated by the whites and my kinds were very few, Ashok shares. But I am glad that I started off so early.
1x1 polls

This has helped me in learning the tricks of the trade and today when I look back, I feel happy and satisfied. In todays time when a Bollywood star gets casted in a Hollywood movie, it becomes a headline.
Ashok describes Hollywood as the dream factory. From the times of Humphrey Bogart to the present times anyone can become a star here. Hollywood gives everyone a fair chance. After which it depends on you how you prove your worth. However, not everyone strives for Hollywood. There are other cinema industries around the world which are doing really well like China and India. But Hollywood is the most popular in the cine world.
But being a part of Hollywood has not at all changed the Indian in him. I am addicted to Indian food. I am known for flying down my Indian palate wherever I am. I had once done this at Cannes. Also when I come to India I get in touch with all my friends and just sit and talk for hours and hours together. This is my way of getting back to my roots, he says. Apart from a little break he took to catch up with friends in India, Ashok is also busy wrapping up most of his soon to be released movies.

I have a film opening in August called Traitor. Then in February there is Street Rider, which we recently wrapped up in Bangkok. The Other End Of The Line will release in November and I guess people will find this one very interesting to watch. The Other End Of The Line features American actor Jesse Metcalfe, the famous hot gardner from The Desperate Housewives and Indian actress Shriya Saran. Jesse is a really cool guy to work with. Shriya and his chemistry in the movie is brilliant. He is highly professional and a pleasure to work with. When it comes to Shriya, I guess the camera just loves her. He is a natural! Ashok has work with the best of Hollywood and knows how to get his work done. A lot of people feel that a producers role is just to give money and then bother about the returns when the movie releases. But I am not that sort of a producer. I am glad to have worked with the directors who have taken my advices and considered my opinions. All the stars I have worked with, I have been clear from the beginning about what I want. The only time I had difficulty convincing anyone to take up the role was Kurt Russell for the movie Dreamer. He had taken a lot of time to sign the movie and take up the role. but he eventually did!
Ashok feels that it is a great time for cinema world over to experiment and make some very out of the box movies. Especially for India where now the budgets and technology is not a challenge. However, I feel that Indian cinema still needs more writers.
Ashok will soon be re-making the movie 10. Bo Derek was in the original and I know it will be tough to find someone to be in her shoes, but at the same time it will be fun to find the perfect 10, he smiles. Ashok is also making a movie in which Brandon Routh, who played the role of Clark Kent in Superman, will be acting. He will play Dylan, a private investigator drawn into the world of the undead.
