Making a fresh star
Young film-maker Anirban Chakrabarty decided to take a different leap when it came to his directorial debut, Maallick Bari.
He signed up students from a film institute to be part of his production team. While actors like Supriya Debi, Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Pallavi Chatterjee, Paoli, Kanchan Mullick, Kharaj Mukherjee and others have been cast in the film, students have helped out with scriptwriting and editing, stressed the film-maker, as singer Raghab and actor Swarnakamal released the films music.
I have no clue why other film-makers dont utilise the talent of young students. I have got them to give me fresh ideas. The young lot is not shy of slogging it out, keeping a tab on the minutest of details, said Anirban. Ask him if he feels the jitters while using such amateurs and pat comes his answer, I know my job and am confident about the whole project. The story and the entire film-making process is different. I am sure people will like it. In fact, in future also, I will work with young students.
Also spotted at the do were Biswanath Basu and Biswajit Chakraborty, music composer Chandan Roychoudhury and Rrishii Kaushik.
