HYDERABAD: The restriction in entry through East-facing main entrance of the Government Chest Hospital in Erragadda has made life difficult for patients and those accompanying them.
They will now have to make a roundabout trip to the new South gate on Vengalrao Nagar from today, due to the construction of the new Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) within the chest hospital premises The new entrance on the south side of the hospital means patients will now have to travel at least half a kilometre from the SR Nagar main road.
Few patients told TOI that the old entrance was easily accessibile to public as it was five minutes away from the ESI metro station and being located on the main road made it convenient to reach by city buses. “Due to trucks carrying construction material like iron, cement, bricks, and other material through the old entrance, we have shifted the main entrace to the south side for the convenience of patients.
The old entrance will have restricted entry for more than one and half years,” the hospital officials said. The hospital was built by nobleman Nizamuddin Fakhr-ul-Mulk in 1888 during the rule of sixth Nizam of Hyderabad Mir Mahboob Ali Khan Siddiqi.
