Gurgaon: The bulk waste generation monitoring cell on Thursday penalised nine violators for flouting the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules, 2016 and warned them of legal actions. A fine of Rs 2.25 lakh has been imposed on the nine BWGs.
The authorities issued challans to several commercial properties situated on the Golf Course Road and condominiums, as they failed to handle their waste disposal responsibilities properly.
However, the MCG after issuing the list of violators withdrew the list later in the evening on Thursday and said a fresh list will be issued on Friday.
MCG commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg said inspectors from the BWG monitoring cell are taking action against all BWGs — "which are not managing the waste generated from their premises" — in their respective zones.
The team imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 each on nine BWGs in a single day. Officials said they intensified actions against BWGs that were not managing waste as per the responsibilities outlined in the SWM Rules.
An MCG official said, "The BWG monitoring cell penalised nine commercial and residential units, a majority of which are situated on the Golf Course Road. These BWGs were found non-compliant with the SWM Rules 2016."
