AJMER: A team of doctors at JLN Hospital performed an endoscopy to remove a coin a 20-year-old woman had swallowed when she was 4.
The woman had started working as an MRI technician and she would experience movement in her stomach whenever she entered the MRI room due to the magnetic field.
The problem persisted, and she spoke to her parents, who told her that she had swallowed a coin when she was a child.
During a press conference, Tuesday, principal and controller of JLN Medical College, Dr Anil Samariya, said when the woman learned that she had swallowed a coin 16 years ago, she contacted the gastroenterology department of JLN Hospital. After an X-ray scan recvealed a coin in her stomach, doctors removed it, Monday.

Hospital superintendent Dr Arvind Khare said although the coin remained in the stomach for 16 years without causing problems, it could have been dangerous. He appealed to parents that if children swallow anything, they should immediately consult a doctor, as it can result in complications.
