After multiple rounds of job cuts in 2023 and 2024, Salesforce plans to hire 2,000 for these AI positions
Salesforce plans to dramatically expand its artificial intelligence sales force, hiring 2,000 specialized representatives to push its growing AI product line, CEO Marc Benioff announced.
The cloud software giant revealed its ambitious hiring strategy at a company event in San Francisco, more than doubling its previously disclosed plans from just a month ago. According to CNBC, Benioff noted the company has already received 9,000 referrals for these 2,000 positions.
This significant recruitment drive comes nearly two years after Salesforce dramatically reduced its workforce, eliminating over 7,000 employees to align with challenging economic conditions. As of January 31, 2024, the company's headcount stood at 72,682, representing a modest 1% decrease from two years prior.
The expansion coincides with Salesforce's upcoming launch of its second-generation Agentforce technology in February 2025. This advanced AI agent software will be capable of handling sophisticated queries within the company's Slack communication platform, leveraging comprehensive data resources.
Benioff highlighted the technology's current capabilities, revealing that their AI-powered customer support system now handles 32,000 weekly conversations, with only 5,000 requiring human escalation—down from 10,000 previously.
Looking beyond current capabilities, Benioff outlined an ambitious vision for AI and robotics. The company plans to launch a "robot force partner program" that will connect virtual and physical robotic systems across various industries. He highlighted potential applications in hospitality, where digital assistants could manage back and front-office operations while physical robots handle tasks like room cleaning.
