Hazelight Studios' latest co-op adventure game Split Fiction features a Friend's Pass system allowing two players to enjoy the full game experience while only one needs to purchase it. Released on March 6, 2025, the game follows the studio's tradition established with previous titles A Way Out and It Takes Two.
Split Fiction Friend’s Pass makes the game free for these players
The Friend's Pass enables the second player to download a free version of the game that functions only when connected to someone who owns the full game. This feature works across all platforms including Steam, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and the Epic Games Store, with cross-platform play supported for the first time in a Hazelight title.
How to use Split Fiction Friend’s Pass
To use the Friend's Pass, the second player must download the specific Friend's Pass version from their platform's store. This is a complete 85GB download containing the full game. Once installed, the player who owns the game can select "Play Online" from the main menu, then choose to invite a friend either through the platform's friend system or through an EA account for cross-platform play.
Console players should note that PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass Core subscriptions are required for online play. All players must create or sign in with an EA account and add their co-op partner as a friend to enable connections.
Split Fiction, like Hazelight's previous titles, is exclusively designed for co-op play with no single-player option. The game follows aspiring writers Mio and Zoe as they navigate through sci-fi and fantasy worlds they've created.
