“There are days I can hardly get out of bed”: Jane Gaudreau shares emotional Instagram story remembering sons Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau

Johnny Gaudreau's mother, Jane Gaudreau, posted a sad quote on Instagram, encapsulating the psychological weight of loss that still haunts her after she lost her sons, Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau. Her emotional story resonates with so many mothers who have suffered like her and continues to solidify the Gaudreau family name in the world of hockey.

On a now-viral Instagram Story, Jane shared, “There are days I can deal with this pain. I can smile. I can even laugh. And then there are days that I can hardly get out of the bed. Grief is hard, so very hard.” The message, named Grieving Moms Forever, comes along with a serene forest background picture, heightening the gravity of her words.
She had earlier posted similar emotional quotes on her Instagram Stories following Sean M. Higgins' not guilty plea during a court hearing on Tuesday, January 7, 2025: "Life can be difficult at times. Some days are really difficult, and sometimes the only way to get through them is to cry. And that's okay."

Jane Gaudreau also gave credit to Glenn Hefferan and the United States Hockey League (USHL) for establishing the Gaudreau Award as a memorial to her late sons. In one of her previous posts on Instagram, she shared that she and her husband, Guy Gaudreau, were blessed to surprise the year's very first winner, Ethan Wyttenbach, in Sioux Falls.

“A special thank you to Glenn Hefferan and the USHL for establishing the award to honor John & Matty Gaudreau. Guy and I were incredibly honored to be invited to Sioux Falls to surprise Ethan Wyttenbach and let him know he was the winner of the Gaudreau Award,” she captioned the post.
The award is not only a memorial for the Gaudreau brothers but also a motivation for young players who not only show talent but also the same kind of values that John and Matty stood for.

National Hockey League superstar winger Johnny Gaudreau was raised in a hockey-dominated household. His father, Guy Gaudreau, is well known in the sport, having played for Norwich University and being a member of the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame. The close-knit Gaudreau family has been a mainstay of American hockey for years.
