On March 7, Carolina sent him to Dallas in exchange for Logan Stankoven and multiple draft picks. The Stars wasted no time locking him in for the long haul, signing him to an eight-year, $96 million contract.

Sunday’s game marked Rantanen’s first as a visitor in Denver, and the crowd’s reaction was as intense as expected. While many still chanted his nickname, “Moose,” others made their disappointment known.
