The Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills are set for another epic clash as they face off in the AFC Championship on Sunday evening. Both teams secured hard-fought victories in the divisional round to earn their spot in this highly anticipated matchup, with a trip to Super Bowl LIX on the line.

Bills’ Von Miller Draws Iconic Kobe Bryant Comparison for Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes

The Chiefs have been a significant hurdle for the Bills in recent playoff history, dominating their postseason meetings. However, Buffalo linebacker Von Miller compared Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes to basketball legend Kobe Bryant, acknowledging his ability to shine under pressure. “He’s kind of like Kobe. He’s going to score his shots. We just gotta make a few more plays than him,” Miller told NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe.

Mahomes enters this game after another stellar regular season, throwing for 3,928 yards and 26 touchdowns with a completion rate of 67.5%. Despite a minor ankle injury, Mahomes demonstrated his leadership by guiding the Chiefs to a 23-14 win over the Houston Texans in the divisional round.
Meanwhile, the Bills showcased their resilience in a nail-biting 27-25 victory over the Baltimore Ravens. Buffalo’s defense withstood a late-game surge from Lamar Jackson, who passed for 254 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Josh Allen, a key player for the Bills, continues to build his MVP-caliber season, bolstering Buffalo’s hopes for their first Super Bowl appearance since 1993.
Sunday’s showdown will be the fourth playoff meeting between the Bills and Chiefs since 2020. Kansas City has emerged victorious in all three previous encounters, including the 2020 AFC Championship and divisional round matchups in 2021 and 2022. However, the Bills have been dominant in the regular season, boasting a 4-1 record against the Chiefs since 2020, including four straight wins.

Buffalo’s recent success in regular-season matchups gives them confidence heading into this high-stakes game. Von Miller emphasized that while Mahomes is exceptional, the Bills are fueled by the leadership of Josh Allen, whose impressive performances keep him in the MVP conversation.
The Chiefs are chasing a historic third consecutive Super Bowl victory, a feat never achieved in the league. Aware of the challenge, Allen praised the Chiefs’ legacy, saying, “Obviously Patrick (Mahomes) is one of the greatest to ever play the game and they’re one of the greatest teams ever assembled. Going for a three-peat... that’s what everyone wants to be in this league.”
