“I would die”: Jake Paul names David Benavidez as the only fighter the El Gallo de Dorado won’t face

Jake Paul expressed his reluctance to face undefeated boxer David Benavidez, acknowledging Benavidez's formidable record. While confident about beating fighters like Anthony Joshua and Canelo Alvarez, Paul admitted during a podcast that Benavidez is a 'monster' he would never challenge. Fans have criticized Paul for previous bout decisions and now demand a more worthy opponent.

Jake Paul has been on the news recently, mostly because of the fighter’s calling out opponents for his next possible bout. He has challenged fighters like Floyd Mayweather and even Anthony Joshua, claiming that these fighters would get easily defeated by the “El Gallo de Dorado." However, even if he is confident about beating most of the athletes out there, he is quite not sure of defeating this one player and Paul would never dare challenge him—David Benavidez.

Jake Paul is hesitant to face David Benadez owing to the latter’s undefeated streak through his career

With his career debut in 2013, David Benavidez today stands at an undefeated 30-match winning streak. His latest win was in February 2025, held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
In his latest talk at the BS w/ Jake Paul, the fighter talked about a lot of things, including what is next for him, his future bout against Canelo Alvarez and others. It was not just a unidirectional talk. Jake Paul too opened up about his ethics and what inspired the fighter to start boxing. At one point Paul was also asked about the one fighter he would never call out or fight, considering the fact that he calls out fighters every now and then. To this he replied,
“My manager is talking about all the potential fights and I am like telling him like yes and no. And the only no is you. I will not fight this guy. He is a monster bro. I would die. I know my boundaries” He went on to add, “I want to fight Anthony Joshua. Exclusive. Because I know I will beat Anthony Joshua’s ass… I love you, Anthony and we are friends. But I want to fight you. I will beat Canelo, I will beat a lot of people. I will not beat David Benavidez. This guy is different.”

Jake Paul’s last bout was against Mike Tyson in 2024. The match went in favor of Paul. However, the fans of the community were not impressed by the decision of the young fighter to go up against someone who is 31 years older. He was heavily criticised as Tyson was visibly exhausted towards the end of the match. Fans have been urging for a match of Paul with someone who is in good shape and can challenge the fighter aptly.
